Rock legends Roger Daltrey and Pete Townshend embark on their genuine farewell journey across North America, promising unforgettable performances of timeless classics one final time.
The Who are embarking on their ultimate farewell journey, marking the end of their six-decade career.
The iconic Rock and Roll Hall of Fame ensemble, led by rock music legends Roger Daltrey and Pete Townshend, has unveiled their final tour dubbed ‘The Song Is Over Tour’ — promising this to be their genuine farewell, unlike their previous 1982 ‘It’s Hard Tour’ — with performances scheduled across North American venues including ballparks, arenas, theaters, bowls, boardwalk halls and amphitheaters from August through September.
New York and New Jersey Tour Dates
The Who farewell tour includes four highly anticipated shows in the New York and New Jersey region, offering fans a chance to witness their iconic performances one last time.
The journey begins with the “Magic Bus” legends performing at Newark’s Prudential Center on Tuesday, Aug. 19, as part of the Prudential Center events lineup.
Following that, the renowned guitar-destroying rockers will grace Atlantic City’s Boardwalk Hall on Saturday, Aug. 23, before moving on to Long Island’s Jones Beach Theater on Thursday, Aug. 28, as one of the most anticipated Jones Beach concerts of the season. The regional leg culminates at New York City’s prestigious Madison Square Garden on Saturday, Aug. 30.

Pete Townshend Reflects on the Final Tour
“This moment carries special significance,” reflects Townshend, 79. “Performing for American and Canadian audiences has always been extraordinary for me. The connection began back in 1967, with hippies on blankets, enjoying their substances, and truly absorbing the music. Music was the universal language. We shared a sense of equality. Today, Roger and I continue to honor the legacy of Keith Moon (who left us in 1978) and John Entwistle (who departed in 2002), along with our dedicated Who fans.”
Recent Tour History and What to Expect
The band’s most recent North American venture was the ‘Who Hits Back! Tour’ in 2022. During those performances, they delivered roughly 20 timeless classics including “Pinball Wizard,” “Who Are You,” “Won’t Get Fooled Again,” “Behind Blue Eyes” and “Baba O’Riley,” sometimes accompanied by an orchestra. The shows featured the recently dismissed and subsequently reinstated drummer Zak Starkey, son of Beatles legend Ringo Starr.
