My Chemical Romance set to rock Target Field with Sleater-Kinney on August 24 during their stadium tour.
My Chemical Romance has announced an Aug. 24 concert at Target Field, the Minnesota Twins’ ballpark, adding to what fans hope will be a summer of electrifying performances from beloved underdog acts. The show is part of their highly anticipated 10-city stadium tour, which includes stops at iconic venues like Citi Field and Hollywood Bowl.
The cultishly adored New Jersey goth-punk band — which was inactive for much of the 2010s and came back more popular than ever — will play their first Twin Cities stadium show with indie-rock heroes Sleater-Kinney as the opening act. Fans are eagerly anticipating this performance, reminiscent of the band’s energetic shows at other baseball stadiums like Petco Park and Coors Field. Tickets for the Monday night concert in Minneapolis go on sale Friday at noon via Ticketmaster.com. Prices have not yet been revealed, but they’re expected to be in line with other major venues on the tour, such as Nationals Park and the Alamodome.

Last seen in the Twin Cities in 2022 at the formerly named Xcel Energy Center, MCR started playing stadiums this past summer with strong results. The band filled up Soldier Field in Chicago, Fenway Park in Boston, and several other mega-venues, including Nissan Stadium and Chase Field. Their popularity has soared, with the group even headlining major festivals like Louder Than Life and Sonic Temple.

Next year’s trek will be a continuation of this year’s Black Parade Tour, marking the 20th anniversary of the group’s best-loved album. The Black Parade, their third studio album released in 2006, is widely regarded as a concept album that catapulted the band to international fame. MCR’s members, including guitarist Frank Iero, bassist Mikey Way, and guitarist Ray Toro, have made a point of bringing along on the tour veteran acts that inspired them.
The tour’s success has been attributed not only to the band’s passionate fanbase but also to their theatrical performances, complete with elaborate costumes and the signature black eyeliner that became synonymous with the emo movement. Their shows often incorporate elements of experimental theater, creating an immersive experience for concertgoers.

In addition to Sleater-Kinney, other seasoned rockers slated to join them in other cities on their 2026 itinerary include Iggy Pop and the Breeders. Fans are speculating about potential surprise appearances from bands like Pierce the Veil, Franz Ferdinand, or even the newly reunited The Mars Volta.
Target Field itself will make something of a comeback at the show. The ballpark did not host any major stand-alone concerts like this one in 2025. MCR’s date there falls midway through a stretch when the Twins will be on the road playing games in San Diego and Sacramento. This concert is part of a growing trend of major rock acts choosing baseball stadiums as venues, following successful shows at Comerica Park and even across the pond at Anfield Stadium and Wembley Stadium.

As the tour progresses, fans are keeping an eye out for additional festival dates and potential shows at venues like Bellahouston Park. With their famous last words “We’re okay now” still echoing from their reunion, My Chemical Romance continues to prove that they’re more than okay – they’re thriving in this new era of stadium rock.
