The two were seen in a photo with former Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida and his wife. The image first shared on Thursday by Kishida on social media gained attention, highlighting the ongoing connections between fellow leaders even after leaving office.

In his post, the former prime minister called Katy Perry Trudeau’s “companion” while recounting the details of their encounter, sparking interest in their relationship status.
“Former Canadian Prime Minister @JustinTrudeau joined me in Japan with his partner Katy Perry, and we shared a meal together with my wife,” Kishida wrote in a message translated from Japanese.
“As prime minister, we met many times as leaders of our nations, and during my trip to Canada, we worked together to improve our partnership. One of our efforts included creating the ‘Japan-Canada Action Plan,’ showing our commitment to strengthen bilateral relations and support the international rules-based order,” he added.

Trudeau expressed gratitude for the meeting through social media, saying, “Katy and I enjoyed talking with you and Yuko. Fumio, thanks for your friendship and for always working hard to support international order and a better future for everyone.”
Kishida served as Japan’s 100th and 101st prime minister between October 2021 and October 2024. Trudeau, who led Canada for a decade, stepped down from his role as prime minister earlier this year, shifting his involvement in the political capacity.
