Bruno Fernandes’ signature celebration was mimicked by Hollywood actress Sydney Sweeney during her visit to Portuguese football club Sporting Lisbon, where the Manchester United midfielder previously played.The American actress visited Lisbon on Friday to witness Sporting’s 3-0 win over Estoril at their home ground. This home win keeps them in the running to chase Portuguese Primeira Liga leaders FC Porto in a competitive title battle.

Sydney Sweeney, the acting star from The White Lotus and Euphoria, got a custom jersey during her visit to the Estadio Jose Alvalade. The shirt had “Sydney” printed on the back. After the match, she got special VIP access to the field where she also got to hang out with Jubas, Sporting’s giant lion mascot.

She tried taking a shot at the goal to show off her football skills. From what it seemed, she didn’t manage to score against the keeper. Still, she celebrated in a fun way by mimicking Bruno Fernandes’ famous celebration and putting her hands to her ears.

The former Sporting star and club legend, who spent three seasons playing at Sporting Lisbon before joining Manchester United in January 2020, is well-known for celebrating key goals with that signature move. It seems like a way to send a message about ignoring outside noise and public scrutiny.
Sweeney being one of the most recognized faces in movies and TV today, can likely relate to that feeling. She deals with constant media attention too.

Sporting’s 3-0 win puts them just four points behind Porto in the title race. On Tuesday, they will take on the league leaders in a critical showdown followed by a Champions League round-of-16 game against Bodo/Glimt the next week.
