ACTRESS Sophie Turner suffered a serious back injury during the filming of Amazon MGM Studios’ awaited Lara Croft streaming series. The £ 100 million production had to stop operations.
Filming has been halted, and the cast and crew are now on an extended break lasting at least one month. Some insiders worry that this pause might stretch to six months, while Sophie Turner, 30, takes the time she needs to heal from her injury.
The British actress became known worldwide for her portrayal of Sansa Stark, a beloved character from Game of Thrones. She started working on the intense Tomb Raider series earlier this January.
Producers think finding a replacement for her at this point would be very hard. They have already shot and completed many scenes with her. These casting issues and the need to recast midway through production have caused worries for the live-action show.

She first found out about her back injury last year during her tough physical training routine. The injury was already there, but the long and tiring hours of intense filming at the famous Shepperton Studios in Surrey made the problem worse.

Someone close to the production shared, “The set has been a total mess, and now the entire show is in real trouble and could fall apart.”
The source added, “Sophie has given everything she has to this challenging role and worked hard. But playing such a physical character like Lara Croft has pushed her body way past its limits.”
Many crew members on set worry that Sophie Turner might need to be replaced entirely because they doubt she’ll recover enough to resume filming.
Her role has been physical and challenging pushing her right to the edge of what she can handle.
However, since they’ve already filmed a large portion of the scenes, producers and executives are facing a tricky situation as they try to decide on the best course of action.
