Bill Cosby’s latest court testimony reveals he secured sedative prescriptions specifically for women, mirroring disturbing admissions made during previous sexual assault depositions decades earlier.
Bill Cosby appears to admit once more that he obtained prescription sedatives to drug women and then engage in sexual activities. Court files highlight unsettling similarities between a current lawsuit and the actor’s statements from twenty years back
The 88-year-old entertainer surrounded by controversy, revealed this in sworn testimony during a lawsuit brought forward by Donna Motsinger, one of the many women accusing him of assault.
Entertainment news outlet TMZ reported that legal documents show Cosby got a recreational quaalude prescription from a Los Angeles gynaecologist, Dr Leroy Amar, at a poker game before 1972. He later refilled the prescription seven times and admitted he never used the drug himself.
Quaaludes are sedatives meant to help people calm down and ease anxiety. Their effects are similar to drinking alcohol. If someone takes too much, the drug can make them sleepy or even knock them out.

In his testimony, Bill Cosby mentioned Dr. Leroy Amar as the doctor who gave him the prescription. Dr Amar was a gynaecologist and cosmetic surgeon based in Los Angeles, known in Hollywood social circles as a “Hollywood prescriber.” He operated the Wilshire Surgical Clinic, where he allegedly provided prescriptions under questionable circumstances.

TMZ reports that California authorities took away Dr. Amar’s medical credentials in 1979. Before Cosby’s deposition, Dr. Amar passed away. Court documents refer to him as a “disgraced” doctor who stayed friends with Bill Cosby, raising questions about the ethics of their relationship within Hollywood social circles.
Motsinger’s legal complaint claims that Cosby drugged and assaulted her in 1972. At the time, she was a server at a restaurant in Sausalito, California. She says Cosby gave her small white pills, which she believed were aspirin. After taking the pills, Motsinger says she struggled to stay conscious. She woke up the next morning at home dressed in her underwear.
The report says Cosby is trying to get the lawsuit thrown out, potentially to avoid another sexual assault trial.
Similarities to Other Case
Claims in Motsinger’s lawsuit look very similar to Cosby’s statements made during a deposition two decades ago. These followed sexual assault allegations and legal steps taken by Andrea Constand.
In July 2015, CNN accessed documents showing that Dr. Amar, the Los Angeles gynecologist, provided Cosby with a quaalude prescription, which Cosby intended to use on women he wanted sexual encounters with.

Cosby, during the deposition, stated that the prescription was for back pain.
Constand’s lawyer, Dolores Troiani, asked, “Did the doctor know you never planned to use the medication yourself?”
“Yes,” Cosby admitted.
Troiani also asked, “Did you think back then that it was against the law to hand out those drugs?”
“Yes,” Cosby replied.
The report mentioned that the California Board of Medical Quality Assurance revoked Dr. Amar’s license after reviewing his disciplinary records. They concluded he had “engaged in most serious misconduct.”
Lawsuit reached a settlement
Cosby settled with Constand in her 2006 civil case, agreeing to pay about $3.4 million.
In 2018, a court found him guilty of assaulting Constand, sentencing him to three to 10 years in state prison. The sexual assault trial took place at the Montgomery County Courthouse. After serving two years, the Pennsylvania Supreme Court overturned the conviction in June 2021.

As Cosby faces ongoing legal challenges, there are rumors of a federal criminal investigation into potential income tax evasion. Some speculate that these mounting legal issues could force the former entertainer to seek bankruptcy protection.
