Geek Girl: A Literary Adaptation Takes Netflix by Storm

The first season, which consists of 10 episodes, was released on May 30 and has already left fans eagerly anticipating a second season.

While Netflix has yet to confirm a second season, the potential for one is limitless. With a wealth of source material from Holly’s beloved young adult book series, there are plenty of stories to explore if the show is given the green light. Emily Carey, who plays Harriet, revealed in an interview with RadioTimes.com that the show has the potential to continue for several seasons, as there are multiple books to draw from. “Season 1 is based on book 1, but we also incorporated elements from books 2 and 3 for the screen adaptation. So there is definitely room for the show to continue,” she shared. She also expressed her desire to revisit her character, whom she described as “a lot of fun.”

Plot Summary

In case you missed it, the series follows the story of Harriet (played by Emily), a socially awkward teenager who dreams of blending in until her unique qualities catch the attention of a prestigious modeling agent in London, teaching her that true individuality lies in embracing one’s differences. The Geek Girl series consists of six books, with the first season covering the first book, originally published in 2013.

Cast and Crew

The cast of Netflix’s Geek Girl includes Emily Carey as Harriet Manners, Sarah Parish as Jude Paignton, Emmanuel Imani as Wilbur Evans, Liam Woodrum as Nick Park, Zac Looker as Toby Pilgrim, Tim Downie as Richard Manners, and Jemima Rooper as Annabel Manners. Emily is no stranger to the entertainment industry, having appeared in successful franchises such as Wonder Woman, Tomb Raider, and House of the Dragon. Speaking about her experience working with the cast, she described them as “one of the best casts I’ve ever worked with” and expressed her excitement at the possibility of reuniting with them for another season.
