Jamaica hosts Jenna Bush Hager and Sheinelle Jones offered heartfelt support for Savannah Guthrie as she faces the devastating disappearance of her mother, Nancy Guthrie.
Jamaica served as the backdrop for a special episode of Today With Jenna & Sheinelle, where hosts Jenna Bush Hager and Sheinelle Jones expressed their heartfelt support for co-host Savannah Guthrie during the heartbreaking disappearance of her mother. They kicked off the first of their two broadcasts from Jamaica by addressing the challenges Guthrie is facing and offering her their emotional backing during this tough moment.
“We’re about to have an amazing show. But before we get started here in Jamaica, I just want to say something. While we’re enjoying the beautiful Caribbean Sea and the wind in our hair, our thoughts are with our dear friend Savannah,” Bush Hager said on Thursday March 26. “She talked to Hoda Kotb earlier today, and it’s just more than anyone should have to bear. Life can be a strange mix of joy and pain — we’re surrounded by all of you, and we’re so thankful you’re here — but at the same time, there’s so much heartbreak. It’s hard to even find the right words for what she’s facing.”

During the morning broadcast of the Today show, Savannah began airing the first part of her emotional conversation with Hoda Kotb about the kidnapping case involving her missing mom, Nancy Guthrie. Nancy was last seen alive on the evening of January 31 at her home in Tucson Arizona, following a family dinner. She was officially reported missing on February 1. Investigators have not identified any suspects yet. The Guthrie family is offering up to $1 million to anyone with details about Nancy’s location. The FBI is investigating the case, with Sheriff Chris Nanos from Pima County overseeing the extensive search.

“When someone means as much to you as our girl does to us, you just feel her presence,” Bush Hager said. “I have to add, it’s hard to come to a place like this and not feel close to God. She talked so much about her faith. We’ve had this visit planned for weeks, and it’s so important to be here. If anyone gets the kind of strength Savannah is working toward every single day, it’s the people of Jamaica. They keep finding joy even when life is tough.”
Bush Hager called it “crucial” to highlight Jamaica’s “strength” and “beauty” on the show after Hurricane Melissa caused severe damage to the nation in October 2025. “The strength people have here is so much bigger,” she said. “They are the light for those in need bringing light even in the darkness.”

Jones added, “If there’s one thing that ties it all together, it’s hope and resilience.” Bush Hager chimed in, “And more than that? It’s love. We’re all keeping Savannah in our thoughts and holding her close as she goes through this overwhelming pain.”
On Thursday, the Jenna & Sheinelle show featured clips of Bush Hager and Jones exploring nearby attractions trying out tasty Jamaican food, and chatting with well-known figures like Sheryl Lee Ralph and Shaggy. Close friends and supporters like Allison Janney, Octavia Spencer, and Tamron Hall have been sending ongoing prayers and heartfelt messages to help bring her home. The show plans to air another episode from Jamaica on Friday March 27.
During a heartfelt talk on Today, Savannah and Kotb got emotional and cried together. Savannah shared how she first found out her mom was missing. Her brother, Camron Guthrie, suggested that Nancy might have been kidnapped to demand money because Savannah is well-known. Police said they found video recordings from the area, but Nancy is still missing. News outlets like USA Today have reported that the search to find her is still ongoing.

“The idea that I had a hand in causing this, that it ties back to me — I keep repeating, ‘I’m so sorry, Mommy. I’m so sorry.’ I apologized to my sister Annie Guthrie, my brother, my kids, my nephew, and Tommy, my brother-in-law. I just feel so sorry,” she said. “None of it made any sense. Thinking someone might do this just because they have money — that’s the only thing we can hold on to, but we couldn’t find any answers.”
The emotional anchor shared her thoughts, considering theories about whether her mom might have had a medical issue or wandered away. Authorities have stated though, there’s no proof of any known criminals nearby. “We might never know what happened,” Savannah said, her voice filled with emotion. “But all we can hold on to is faith.”
Savannah ended the interview clips with, “No matter if she’s still here with us or in heaven above, I know where she is. I know who she’s with. But we need answers. We need to bring her back.”
The conversation between Savannah and Kotb will continue on Friday’s Today episode. They’ll discuss more updates on the search efforts and explore theories about this case that has left the family without answers.
