Lady Gaga’s Participation in the Fortnite Festival
Global pop icon and Oscar winner Lady Gaga, who once famously asked her Twitter followers about Fortnite, is now officially a part of the online game’s Fortnite Festival. Starting on February 22, Gaga will perform eight of her songs as playable tracks in the Fortnite Festival Season 2: Unlock Your Talent. The titles of her songs that gamers can enjoy in the game include “Applause,” “Bloody Mary,” “Born This Way,” “The Edge of Glory,” “Just Dance,” “Poker Face,” “Stupid Love,” and “Rain on Me” featuring Ariana Grande. Her 2020 album, Chromatica, will inspire the stage for Gaga’s performance.
The Announcement and Teasers
The announcement of Gaga’s participation in the festival was made after she shared a hilarious correction of her previous spelling error in a tweet from five years ago. She captioned the new Fortnite image, which shows her wearing an outfit similar to the one she wore on her 2022 Chromatica Ball tour, with the word “*fortnite.” This led many to believe that Gaga would follow in the footsteps of The Weeknd, who had collaborated with the game in 2023 to create a playable headlining set featuring his music.
The Fortnite Festival is described as a “music-driven, rhythm-based game” with two unique experiences: Fortnite Festival Main Stage and Fortnite Festival Jam Stage. Players can enter the popular environment of the game and enjoy a licensed soundtrack of global hits and Fortnite originals, according to Epic’s website. The announcement of Gaga’s participation in the festival coincides with her teasers about her upcoming album, which she has been previewing online in recent weeks.
Reactions and Comments
Fellow pop star Kesha also showed her excitement for new music from Gaga after the latter wrote “Tik tok tik tok” under a photo of herself at work. Kesha, who rose to fame in 2009 with her hit song “Tik Tok,” commented, “READY MOTHER.” In an interview with EW in 2021, Gaga revealed that she is always thinking about making new music but is not ready to share any details. She explained, “There’s always music in my heart and the works. It’s just a matter of asking, ‘What will it be?'” She added, “I’m always thinking about music; it just comes out in different forms.”
