“After forty years of silent observation, I must now break my silence as the end approaches,” declares Vic Rattlehead in an Instagram video announcement. “The confirmation stands – the next Megadeth studio album will conclude four decades of metal mastery, beginning in strength and ending in fire, followed by a worldwide farewell tour as the new year rises. Heed this announcement and ready yourselves, metal warriors. Stay loud, stay vigilant, and join the final battle.”

This announcement signals the conclusion of Mustaine’s illustrious journey with Megadeth, which began with the band’s formation in 1983. Throughout their 42-year tenure, these thrash metal pioneers have produced 16 albums, with their most recent offering – The Sick, the Dying… and the Dead! – released in 2022.
In a press statement, Mustaine reflected on the band’s decision to end their recording career on their own terms: “Throughout music history, countless artists have reached their final chapter, some by choice and others by circumstance. Mustaine continued, “We’re incredibly excited to share this album and embark on this tour. The timing couldn’t be more perfect for a new album release. Over the years, we’ve forged countless friendships, and I hope to see everyone during our global farewell tour.”
The frontman had a message for the album’s loyal cyber army of fans: “Don’t be sad or mad about this moment; instead, be happy and join us in celebration over these coming months. Together, we’ve achieved something extraordinary that may never happen again. We pioneered a musical genre, sparked a revolution, revolutionized guitar playing, and left an indelible mark on the world.”
