Legendary Emo Rockers Announce Nostalgic Stadium Tour: My Chemical Romance to Perform “The Black Parade” in Full Across North America in 2025
The “Black Parade” is marching again, much to the delight of the alternative rock and emo rock fan community.
My Chemical Romance revealed on Tuesday, following a day of teasing, that they’ll be embarking on a stadium tour in 2025 to perform their iconic 2006 album, “The Black Parade,” from start to finish. This 2025 concert tour marks a significant album anniversary, celebrating nearly two decades since the release of their groundbreaking work.
The “Long Live The Black Parade North American Tour” is set to begin in Seattle on July 11. The band will visit major concert venues like Los Angeles’ Dodger Stadium, Philadelphia’s Citizens Bank Park, Toronto’s Rogers Centre, and Chicago’s Soldier Field before wrapping up in Tampa, Florida, on Sept. 13. Each concert will feature different opening acts, with a star-studded lineup including Death Cab for Cutie, Alice Cooper, Wallows, Devo, and Evanescence.
Cryptic Announcement and Fan Speculation
In their social media announcement, MCR seemed to drop more clues about the upcoming tour. They shared a video showing a so-called “great dictator” stepping onto a balcony to address his subjects in what appears to be a dystopian world.
The caption reads: “Seventeen years have passed since The Black Parade was sent to the MOAT. During this time, a great Dictator has risen to power, ushering in ‘THE CONCRETE AGE’; a glorious era of stability and abundance in DRAAG’s history. His Grand Immortal Dictator invites you to celebrate our rich culture, fine cuisine, and musical entertainment at these grand displays of power and resolve.
“And for the first time in six thousand two hundred and forty-six days, with their work privileges ceremoniously reinstated, His Grand Immortal Dictator’s National Band… The Black Parade, will lend their voices and songs. Long Live Draag.”
The visual’s themes differ from “The Black Parade album’s” original concept, which follows the story and reflections of a cancer patient known as “The Patient.” Fans are already making setlist predictions, wondering if the band will include their hit “Welcome to the Black Parade song” as the tour’s centerpiece.

Mikey Way expresses excitement for 2025 MCR tour: ‘A dream come true’
The band—which split in 2013 and includes original members Gerard Way, his brother Mikey Way, guitarist Ray Toro, and guitarist Frank Iero—last toured during their 2022 MCR reunion Tour. Since its 2019 announcement, the tour has faced several COVID-19-related delays. In 2022, they also released their first new track since 2014, “The Foundations of Decay.”
Mikey Way and Iero took to Instagram Stories to share their enthusiasm for this new MCR chapter.
“What an incredible and amazing journey this has been,” Mikey Way wrote. He continued, “I’m currently at a loss for words. So, I’ll begin with this… THANK YOU.”
“This is more than just a dream come true,” he added in a follow-up post. “It’s unbelievable that we get to do this! Here’s to summer 2025 with my bandmates, friends, and all of you. Long live The Black Parade!”
“I dreamed of mychem playing Metlife Stadium 8 years ago. Today, we’re announcing that very show … New Jersey Forever,” Iero shared on his Instagram Story.
MCR recently took the stage at the When We Were Young Festival in Las Vegas, performing “The Black Parade” in its entirety. As a special treat for devoted fans and emo enthusiasts, they included “I’m Not Okay (I Promise)” and “Helena” from their second album, “Three Cheers for Sweet Revenge,” in the encore.
